VG Shark Fin Antenna

I have one of these on my 3, I agree they're pretty nice. Better radio reception than with a stubby antenna, but not quite as good as the stock whip. Installation was very easy, and it's survived the car wash so far.

Ya know, I think the stubby gets a bad name, but without proper justice. I have the CX-7 stubby and honestly, my reception seemed to improve. Now, it may be in my head but I am certain reception did not get any worse. Maybe its because its an OEM part, I dont know, but I am more than happy with the stubby.

I never had reception problems with my stubby. Living and driving so close to the city, I never really considered it enough of an issue to justify the extra expense of the sharkfin.

It won't matter much in the end cause I'm having sirius installed on Friday anyway. I just don't like the stock location and thus I'm going all LL Cool J Shark fin up on that bitch.

I've heard that the CX-7 stubby gets better reception than the stock horse whip, which is already better than the shark fin.

I have the CX-7 horsewhip and now replaced it with the VG Sharkfin from the RMP Store. But, I mostly listen to the iPod in the car, anyway. I installed one of the Audiolink adapters from the RPM Store along with a dice docking cradle and custom mount (from KudaUSA). From what I can tell, however, the reception is very similar. No performance delta, there.

Well my shark fin didn't sit well on the car at all. So I'm not in contact with the RPM store who's in contact with VG to figure out wtf happened. I'll take some pics soon. Anyone know the best way to get that thing off the car without doing any damage to the paint?

Update on this one, after dealing with the RPM store and sending them pics it was very clear they sent me the wrong item and it was never going to sit right on my roof. I'll have a free replacement in a few days with pre paid shipping of the old item back. Thumbs up for the RPM store!

That's great. I recently had my antenna stollen from the my mazda 5. I called the dealer and feel $43 is to much for a replacement. I like the sharkfin but it too is to expensive. I have not been able to find and aftermarket antenna. Did you have anyluck with that.

I can vouch for Donny @ RPM. He sells great products and stands behind everything 100%. I have also purchased the shark fin ant. from him. I have had it installed for about 5 months now, no issues, great reception, perfect fit and perfect paint match to my steel grey 6S. Jouuu, if you are still around and need an ant. send me a PM and I will send you my old stubby for free.

I thought the stubby worked fine, I could pick up metro area radio stations just fine as long as I was not more than 40-50 miles outside of town.
