To be fair to Rotas I found some cracked and bent Volk and work pics

As some of you may know I love my JDM wheels. And I hold a scepticism about Rota wheel quality and strength. Well I found a couple pics of name brand JDM wheels that are cracked and bent. So apparently problems can happen to the best of brands.

I think you are right about Rota and their strength, but I dont think they hide that fact either, do they? I thought they were open about them being light and sacrificing "some" strength to achieve that weight.

Meh, with so many sets of rotas on the road, there would be plenty of verifiable stories of them breaking if there were genuine issues with their construction. They may well be weaker than some name brand wheels, but we're just talking about the extent of damage you'll sustain when you hit a curb sideways at 40mph, not like your wheels are going to shatter when you go over a pothole....

Well said. By no means was I trying to imply that Rotas will fall apart under regular "street" conditions. I actually dig a lot of their products.

There was one case with the rotas that was verified and apparently rota gave everyone from the same production run new wheels. It was that one pic where the wheel looks twisted off almost.

This is a very early model Rota wheel. Look like they alway had an issue with there wheels.

Those must have been the ill-fated Rota BWs. When the name brands were using oak for their wheels, Rota went with Balsawood...
