Thinking about RPF1s what size though?

<--see avy for the wheels I am thinking of getting.

The Rpf1s come in 18x7.5 +48, 17x8 +45 and 19x8 +45. Now Idealy I would like an 18x8 size but since they don't have that what do you guys think should I downsize the diameter to 17 to get an 8 inch wheel? Or should I just put up with a narrower wheel in the 18 inch size? I have almost ruled out going 19 due to price and worrying about hitting pot holes.

Unless you want to drop it and live with a speedo that's off by a few percent, I'd say go with 18x7.5

17x will require you to live with one of two things: a correct speedo and a tall sidewall, or a huge wheelgap and an incorrect speedo. The latter can be solved with a drop, but I still think 17's would look out of proportion.

19s are out of the question, IMO. Nothing wrong with the stock 18x7.5

With the 17 I would go with a taller sidewall. It's mainly the fact that I would like to use a 235 width tire and I am not sure if that is a good idea on a 7.5 inch rim, an 8inch rim would be ideal.

but it would have the disadvantage of losing some precision and crispness in handling... more or less negating the advantage of running a wider tire (overall maximum grip)

Personally, there's no way I'd spend big bucks on a set of nice looking wheels, and then kill the look by going with a small wheel.

Do you know what the offset is on the stock wheels?

Edit: Looks like it's 52.5

Using this calculator it looks like running a 235/40 tire on the 18x7.5 is going to be getting pretty close to the fender. Might have to roll em or settle for a 225/45

Also, I was mistaken... the stock wheel is a 18x7, so you'd be doing pretty well going to the 18x7.5 with a 225 width tire.

If you get these you gotta get the super black chrome bro!

The super brilliant coating is hot but it adds like $100 per wheel I don't know if I can drop that kind of dime for chrome.

If you bought super duper lightweight wheels it might make your car faster, depending on how heavy the stock setup is.

Okay, dropping 3k on super light wheels will not make your car any faster than dropping $200 on an intake and throwing the rest in the garbage :p

That's the thinking behind getting RPF1s. They are one of the lightest wheels around at 17lbs vs the stock 24lbs.

I figure I will spend aournd 1000 on wheels whenever I eventually decide to buy them. Wheels help perfomance in more ways than just being lighter. Increased wheel width for better traction with wider tires.
