Stock shifter needs to go!

After 18k+ miles on the MS3 and driving it in the winter, the stock shifter is a POS. Is there something better out there, that doesnt feel like its going to break in half when I shift into gears...getting into frist gear when the car is cold is hard, sometimes i just skip 1st and put it into 2nd

TWM and Cobb both make short throw shifters. Cobb's is being / is discontinued, I haven't used either personally but haven't heard anything bad about either.

i totally agree that 2nd gear is clunky, i even got the twm ss and it got a little better, what helped the most is rubbing more grease on the joint so it makes it smoother sliding in and out

Often, just replacing the bushings goes a looong way towards placing a more solid feel in the shifter, for a fraction of the cost of a full STS.

Replacing all the motor mounts helps too.

Ooo you have a GTO...wanna run em when it get warmer out?
I'm sure something could be arranged :)

And as others have said, the Shifter bushings (TWM or StreetUnit) and motor mount will help, I'd start with that and if you still aren't happy pickup a STS.

yeah I got only shifter bushings and that was a noticeable difference.

Theres a couple more STS offerings, but TWM has imo the best quality for cheap. Cobb one is nice as it is adjustable but make sure it has to date threads.
STS
shifter bushings
Rear MM

those three things will help a ton on the shift and shift feel.
