Re: Rotor problem

Hello,
I need to remove rear rotor to have it turned. It seems to be stuck and I cannot get it off. It is almost as if a spring is holding it on somehow. Any advice on how to get it off?
Thanks!

What kind of car? Some models have a threaded hole in the rotor hub where you can thread a bolt in, and it will press against the wheel hub to free the rotor.

But you say it's like a spring is holding it in? Does that mean it's loose on the hub but something is holding it back? Once you've removed the brake caliper properly there won't be anything holding the rotor on the hub, except for maybe a bit of corrosion.

What is holding the rotor on is the lip the brake shoe make on the inside of the rear brake drum. As funn as it sounds the rear brakes still have a drum the the e brakes uses. what you need to do is look on the face of the rotor (or the back side by the caliper) and see if there is a hole. You should be able to put a flat screw driver through the hole and click the brake shoe adjuster closed this will push the brakes back together thus freeing it from the drum and allowing you to pull it off.
