Need some help on a wheel set up for speed 3!!!

I need some help on finding a good performance setup for wheels and suspension. I might be getting a mazdaspeed sports spring kit with rear camber links for free.It is a 15 mm drop from stock. What I want to know is what is the widest wheel and tire set up I can get without rubbing.

I heard of some ppl getting to fit EVO x or STI wheels with lowered springs. But EVO wheels are 8.5x18 ! If all else fails I might just stick with 18x7.5 or even 17s and wrap them with 225s for rubber. Looks are great but performance is more of a priority to me so space from fender to tire is not one of my main concerns.

Any advice will be concidered and realy appreciated! Thanks....

Well, that all depends on what you're attempting to do. There is one mbr on here running 245's on stock suspension on RX8 wheels. I'll be running a 17x9+42mm offset and 245/40/17's come spring. I guess it really depends on what your budget is, and what you want it to do. Realistically, wheels are not the most efficient way to gain grip. If you only want to go as far as a 225, you should be able to clear it on a small drop and the stock wheels, or close to stock size, relatively easily. If you're an idiot like me, you want as much rubber under the car as humanly possible.

No I can see how I might of made it seem like I was trying to get performane out of wheels lol but honestly I realy just want more tire tread. 245s are realy what I want but what rim sizes will that fit on properly and will those rim sizes and tire fit with a 15mm drop I guess is what I am asking? I dont want to tow in the wheels or anything like that!

Well, a 245 will fit on pretty much anything wider than a 7" wheel. I'd go at least an 8 inch just to prevent a convex tread face. The only reason I'm going 9" is because the offset I want doesn't exist in an 8, so I have to go wider. 15mm drop, you're not going to have too much of an issue if you run say, a +50 offset. Go much lower than that, you're going to run into clearance issues on the outside fender lip. I chose to go down to a 17" wheel for price, and the fact that I should be able to run a fairly agressive offset, combined with a pretty decent drop (Thinking Cobb springs and sways). I don't think you'd have any clearance issues if you were to run a 8"wheel in the mid 40's for offset.... check this link http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp and run the numbers through that.

Yeah, those would be pretty rad. Be careful though, the r1 wheels are 19's and you will have tire clearance issues.
