My Summer Setup w/ Pics

Thought I'd share a few pics of my summer setup now that I've got everything all figured out and installed. These will only be on for a few more days, then I'll be swapping to my winter setup of ContiExtreme Contacts with the stock wheels.

ICW Jet 25B 18x7.5 +45 offset on stock rubber (also removed the side moldings)

And here's a pic showing the Niteshade tinted side and rear reflectors. Worked out great and gets rid of the red that stuck out like a sore thumb.

Those rear reflectors turned out excellent. How hard were they to do?
They weren't too hard. Side ones pop out easy. The rear ones are screwed in and the only way to get at them is to remove the bumper (or at least partially remove the bumper). So, it took a little work but it's not that crazy. Especially with some help (Thanks, Nate).

I did run into a weird issue with the finish of the Niteshades on the rear ones. When you look closely you can see cracks in the finish. I'll probably redo them next spring when it's warmer. Side ones are perfect though.

Looks nice man, I really have to get the side moldings off mine come spring.

Small thread jack - where did you get your winter tires? And what size are they?

At night, do they have any reflectiveness left?
A little. But you can control that with how many coats you put on.

Best compromise I found was sticking with a High Performance All-Season instead of a true winter tire. Everything I was reading talked about how the winter tires wear fast on dry pavement. And with our winters lately we don't really get that much snow.

Anyways, so for price, sizing (225/45R18 - slightly wider but there are infinitely more options in this size than stock) and snow/winter ratings the Continental ContiExtremeContacts fit the bill.

Best price I found was $118/tire at tirerack.com and if you check out their reviews and tests they compare these tires with others and they rank pretty high especially in snow/winter conditions.

Looking nice Mit! All you need is some tint and you are set.

BTW, the NiteShade (spray paint) cracking usually occurs when the additional coats are applied to liberally or applied on top of a previous coat(s) that has not cured completely.

Now, start saving some money for Christmas!

Well, that's the reason it kept getting worse then. We tried to strip it off and repaint it like 3 times. I'll have to start from scratch next spring. It's still weird though that I painted the rears and sides at the same time in the same manner and the sides turned out flawless. :KANE:

This was my Christmas. Just have to make the lady happy now.

I think you may have just applied it a bit to thick on the rear ones. I thought you would have learned from painting the tails on the 6. You must go slow grasshopper!

Maybe...But it still was weird. Neither Nate nor I could figure it out. We did thin layers slowly. And for the last attempt we even brought everything inside and waited like 15 minutes between coats.

I bet when you turned your back Nate did something to sabotage it! or maybe it was a sign from a higher power. Did the cracks form the likeness of baby Jesus or the Virgin Mary? If it did, don't repaint them. Sell them immediately on e-bay!
