Mismatch Blizzak question

So I picked up 3 used WS-50 Blizzaks with only 1 winters use on them for $100. They fit my stock steelys perfect for my winter setup. Now my question, you can't find new ws-50's anymore, the new model is ws-60. It has a different tread design. I was hoping I can buy one ws-60 and run it on the rear set.

I know the recommendation is always to run with the same pairs, but what problems will this cause me in the rear?

I don't think you'd have a problem, especially with winter tires. If you were a road course racer then you might have to be concerned, but for this instance it should be zero problems.

You're not AWD so you won't notice slight differences in size on your rear wheels. It's not like they do anything but roll.

As long as you run it on the rear, you should be A-OK. Running it on the front *could* cause some extra wear on the diff, since the wheels would be turning at slightly different speeds whenever you were going in a straight line-- the new tire will be a little larger due to the extra tread depth. And it *might* also cause your ABS to act a little funny since it is looking for differences in wheel speed under braking, and most braking is done by the front wheels.

However on the rear end, i doubt you'd notice much difference at all. Maybe a slight pull to one side when braking under slippery conditions, but I would think that'd be the worst of it.
