SilverSpeed3

Just wanted to make my intro post as well. I have a Silver Speed3 coming in within the next couple of weeks and can't wait to get it.
My addiction to fun cars started with a '94 Miata. We had some issues with that car (we bought it used and didn't check it out as much as we should have) but nonetheless, I still think of that car as the "gold standard" of what a fun car should be.
From there I moved into a '98 Audi A4 1.8T:
I didn't do much to it other than an aftermarket ECU, and an S4 bumper / RS4 grill thanks to an accident that my wife got into. That car was fun, but I didn't want to sink more $ into modding for a variety of reasons, but mostly b/c my wife isn't big into that stuff.
Since I couldn't find much time / energy to mod the A4, my next move was into something that didn't need to be modded, an '04 Audi S4:
That car had insane power, but had three problems:
1. Bad transmissions. I went through 2 in 25k miles
2. Bad gas milage. Seems obvious now, but a V8 being driven hard isn't exactly easy on gas
3. Kids. Every time I put my kids in the car I freaked out about them spilling, putting their feet on the seats, etc.
I ended up only keeping that car for ~ 15 months due to the arrival of our 3rd child. With the 3rd we needed something bigger, so we traded the S4 for the sportiest minivan around: the Honda Odyssey
At that time I took my wife's old car, a 2000 VW Passat with the same 1.8T engine that I had in my original Audi:
The car is in fantastic shape, and only has 57k miles on it. But it's just not fun.
That's where the Speed3 comes in: a fun, practical, relatively inexpensive car. It pretty much meets all of my needs. I was planning on trading the VW in on a Speed3, but it now looks like I have a private party lined up to buy it (thank you Craigslilst!).
Anyway, my Speed3 is on the way here, and I hope to have it by the end of the month. I'm glad to see this website starting up, as I've spent tons of time on the mnaudi.com site over the past several years.
