For all the stuff you read on the back of some detail polish or wax or even detail spray. There is a difference between them.
3m is more for the professional and Maguire’s is more of a novice product. Ok here goes.
First thing to take into account is what you are going to use to apply the product rotary, random orbital or hand.
Different products are designed to work with each applicator. Such as 3m products are for the most part designed to be used with a rotary and at the very least orbital. That means that you will not be getting the most out of the product if you apply by hand. You may actually be doing more damage then you are fixing. 3m polish and wax has a very long working time. That being that it takes more work to make the product do its job. So if you are applying by hand it will not break the polish down and thus mar the paint.
Now Maguire’s is ok to use with a rotary, orbital and for some products by hand. This product line has a much shorter working time and that is why only really good pros use it with a rotary. This stuff will brake down very quickly and dry up very fast. So if you are not careful you can dry buff the paint and burn it. It is best to use an orbital for these types of polish.
There are also products that are made for hand applications only. These will be labeled as hand glaze or hand ap only.
If there are other products that you would like to know about post it up and I will tell you my experience with it.
