Well, picked up our second Mazda, a CX-7. The first one does not "count" since it is a "Mostly Plastic Vehicle" (MPV) used for kid hauling and family outings
Last time I was in the turbo world was 17 years ago when I picked up a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo in 1990 (yes, I am older than most of you, here). The CX-7 was a welcome surprise. I had considered the Speed6, but, again, the family obligations pulled me sideways into the cross over. No regrets, however. Very fun vehicle.
I picked up a DashHawk which is a handy little device to monitor any engine function the computer sends. I use it for a digital speedo and boost guage. The other nice bonus is the 0-60 test (accurate within .1 sec) and 1/4 mile testing. It uses your odometer for the distance check. It is correct to within .1 to .2 seconds. Have not tried a 1/4 mile run, yet, as I am not too keen on a possible 90+ MPH speeding ticket to complete the test. As per the mags, it does 0-60 in 7.9 seconds if you start at idle, in drive and hit the accelerator. If you launch it properly with a brake torque start, TCS disabled, and shift manually, 60 MPH arrives in about 6.8 seconds. Not too bad.
That aside, I found this site through Mazdas247. Looks like a nice dedicated crew here.
Later!
