Well, a little late update on Sunday... I got there a little earlier than 7:15 this time and ended up on 2nd on the wait list... this time registration didn't even completely fill up, 157 total drivers.
They rearranged the course a little bit, and it was set up in the reverse direction as well, so a couple more course walks, including the novice walk for line determinations etc. The slalom was, once again, a point of contention. They added an extra, slightly offset, cone to the slalom. So now instead of entering and exiting on the same side, you exited on the opposite side as you entered. This allowed for a more sweeping entrance and exit, or tighter turns (but less distance of course) on both ends.
After watching the 1st heat (I was a cone picker on the slalom section), most people were taking the inside line into the slalom. This allowed you to sort of skip the first and last cones (because the last was offset far enough that you could head straight past it to the upcoming corner) but you had to take a sharp 90* corner at the end. So, that's what I tried.
Bart posted the results above, so I won't post all my times and that stuff. I was working on being a little bit less agressive with the gas and avoiding cones, since they owned me yesterday. I still had some trouble looking ahead to the next cones, but my braking improved a little bit I think, and I only hit two cones (both on my last, and otherwise fastest run

). My first couple runs I really hit a couple sweeping corners WAY to fast and was understeering way wide on them, so that was corrected in the next three runs. I blame it mostly on not looking ahead to see I needed to slow down so quickly. Oh well, something to work on.
Another fun day, though I got seriously sunburned over the weekend. Note to Self: Bring a hat and some sunscreen.
