03 MSP Valve Adjustment

I have an 03 mazdaspeed protege. Engine went BOOM in 05 I belive.. Got a new built forgedblock in and a valve replaced. I dont know if mazdaspeed always have a tick noise(almost like an aggresive cam) on every cold start but after the car is warm it sounds a bit better but can still hear the tick. I was wondering if anyone in MN have any experience on adjusting valve and would give me a hand?

Thanks MM

Never done it myself, but this car has solid lifters, so you'll need to get ahold of a set of shims (probably from a dealer) to adjust the valve lash.

But before that, pop the valve cover and use a feeler gauge to check the clearance. I have a copy of the service manual detailing the valvetrain that I can post when I get home.

Also, this motor is known to make all sorts of odd noises... there's a good chance it's just the ol FS-DE being its noisy self. lol

Thanks for the respone. I kinda figure that maybe the engine just makes these type of aggressive noise and since I've drove the car with the new block till this time with no issues or cel maybe theres nothing wrong.. but would like an adjustment too see if theres any difference. I should meet someone with a msp and listen to their engine lol. Anyways the manual would be nice. Thx again

I'M OFFENDED!
IIRC Jay's sounds like it has lifter tick..... many of them do. I could be wrong though.
