Looks like the screen on our laptop shit the bed. Anyone have one they're looking to unload?

I'm most interested in something smaller with a 13-15" screen, and with XP but I'm not terribly picky. I just hate to go buy a brand spankin new laptop that's really only going to be used for web browsing and some light office work.

Sorry to be off topic, but was your current one a toshiba? My toshiba's screen just went to poop on me, started flickering on and off and you would have to hit it to get it to come back on. Still works sometimes, probably going to get made into a parts machine.

Nope, it's a compaq. It was working fine in the morning, opened up the lid in the afternoon and the screen was extremely dark. If I hit the windows button I could just make out the start menu popping up. Screen brightness controls did nothing. Half the time the screen is extremely dark, half the time it's completely black. I'm in the process of disassembling it right now to check the monitor cable, but it's given us 5 or 6 years already so it's probably time for a replacement anyways.

I have two computers with dead p/s's you're welcome to. One is a compaq NON widescreen, and the other is that Uniwill from Colin... has a 13" screen.

Jebus, I know I'm not picky when it comes to hardware, but am I really such a gomer that you guys all automatically assume I'd replace a non-working laptop with another non-working laptop? lol

It's 5 years old, and it was a refurb when I bought it... it was time to upgrade anyways, plus I have good plans for the guts of the old one ;)
