Yup, I'll eat my previous words... :) and change my opinion. I think that will look pretty nice. I look forward to seeing the finished project!

How do you plan to make a mirror image of that part for the other side?

  7. Measurements and patience will get the other one very close. Due to the space between them, they do not have to be perfectly symmetrical, they just have to be very close to symmetrical.

  8. More resin applied, depth starting to show.

Freaking nice. I've always wanted to do some CF. I've messed with fiberglass before, but I'm not at the level to even think about messing with CF.

    holy balls! amazing work

it was fun going through all the posts. You are a very talented car enthusiast, and your passion truly shows.

Can't wait to see more of your work!

  12. Well here is another update.

Blocked out the resin a little and applied some more, really starting to smooth out now!

  13. Started the door cards today. I am making a mold of the door card, that way when I lay the carbon I can use it as a press to ensure that the carbon lays down nicely in all the tight corners

True. I think making a mold is the right wy to go.

  17. Finished the speaker mount. All sanded and cleared. Maybe a little buffing, but basically done.

Beautiful work man, seriously. Looks incredible. Do you think something like this would hold up on a center cap at all?

Like a standard Mazda wheel center cap? I think it could be done. The main thing would be to get the mold perfect with the size it is.

    Great work Andy!

I was thinking about covering the outside part of a center cap, not the entire thing. I just didn't know if the resin would hold up to the elements. It would suck to cover a set of center caps and have them look like crap a year later.
