2007 Mazda3 fog lights

Hey guys, I'm new here. I was wonering how to install fog lights on my car. I see that there is a pre-wired harness where the fog lights go in. pretty obvious that the fog lights just plug into the harness, but what about the on/off switch? How does that get installed? Is there a certain slot that it fits into (obviously next the the dimmer switch). Would I need to run any wires at all? Thank you!

I asume you have a regular 3 without fogs and you want to add them. I'm not familar with how the fogs in the regular 3 are controled, I know in my 6 and MS3 they are turned on/off with a rotary switch on the signal lever.

As for using the wiring thats in place I guess you'd have to figure out where it terminates and how you'd hook a switch up to it, that or just run new wiring and mount a switch in the location of your choice to control them.

Yes, that is true Matt. Mine has the fogs and they run on the rotary switch. Depending on whether they use the same harness or not, you should be able to look at a wiring diagram, tap that hot wire, find a decent ground, and hook up your own switch for the lights.

I'd have to imagine the harnesses are identical. One option might be to look for a signal lever from a 3 with fogs, and just replace that one. Otherwise, I've seen a lot of people putting little rocker switches in the switch blanks down by your left knee.

Yeah, the only thing you may have issues with is locating which wire is hot for the fogs. I can take a look on all data and see if I can find out for ya.

OK, I found it... Well at least for the 06 model. The switch is actually a ground side switch, which in turn goes through a microcomputer, and then activates the fog lamp relay. Here is a pic:

They come pre-wired with the harness and the on/off switch that mounts next to the dimmer switch. So, you guys think that the wires from the harness go to the steering column? Is there any way to find out exactly where they end at or since Mazda put in the harness at the blanks where the fog lights go, wouldn't you think there's some thing some where that states how to install them?

If you take a look at the Mazda 3 forums, I would imagine you can find info, or at least someone who has done a similar upgrade before.
