First Look: Subaru Impreza Design Concept

I like it, but I don't love it. This design doesn't feel like a Subaru to me. It reminds me of the first time I saw a Scion Tc. Basically a bunch of design cues from different car models melded into one, but it doesn't quite work. Subes have had hood scoops on Imprezas for over a decade now, but nothing on this one. The front reminds me of a new Evo when looking directly from the front, but the profile almost echos the Mazdaspeed3. The slope of the rear glass seems like it would leave little headroom for people in the back seat. The bulbous rear end is just too funky for my taste. If this truly is the next Impreza, my prediction is that it gets completely revamped within the first 2 model years to give it more of the "Impreza" look that it's missing. If the fins on the front where the foglights should be are done as LEDs ala Porsche RS2, then that would be a huge thumbs-up for me.
