Everyone on the m3 forum is up in arms about this review. They are pulling out all the old excuses to defend the MS3. Like "skidpads don't mean anything" and the "interior is cheap".

I have come to grips with reality though and that reality is that the Cobalt ss vs. MS3 is the modern day camaro vs. Mustang battle. We have got FORD stamped on every part on our cars so why not just give up and have fun with it?

Ahh though it was a new ms3 by the mirrors...

The nice part about the cobalts is hptuners can allow you to unlock quite a bit of "safety" horsepower if you don't mind sacrificing drivetrain reliability on the earlier models.

I would be curious to see the stock tune on this new model.

I would be interested to see them put all this stuff in an Astra Redline, and then compare... or at least the Cobalt sedan.

You may be prejudiced against them, but it's the only way to have an apples-to-apples comparison in this case. I would like to see a thorough side-by-side comparison in all ways.

Nope, looks like lame ass cobalt to me, Porsche have an air of quality about.

Ok man, you brought this shit up again; I'm pulling off the gloves.

Please tell me what parts have fomoco, or any mention of ford that’s found in either the Mz3 or MS3? I currently have nearly every part of the MS3 in my garage and and most a screws turn away from being in hand and will have access to the Mz3 parts pretty soon. I can't say that I've been looking at every part for that, but my understanding of statistics tells me it be unlike for me to have missed this at this point if, as you say, FORD is stamped on every part.

I'm sorry, what do you expect from a MAZDA website, especial one with mostly people who drive MS3?? (both here and m3f)

It takes more then magazine articles to impress me, and with my history with GM products, this car will have to overcome my doubts, rather then reach my high expectations for it.

I believe you’ve started all 3 threads on this car now?
With all the Cobalt love in the air, I smell a trade-in!

I just think people should admit when there is another good product out there. These same people doubting thr road & track article about the cobalt were the same people quoting from the "leuge of extrordinary pocket rockets" article by road and track where they praised the MS3 as king of the hill. Let's be honest here, the Cobalt aparently beats the ms3 in the handling department.

The valve cover says ford and from what I have heard the block says ford on it as well. Basically alot of ford parts exist on the MS3. This disapointed me to an extent I thought I was getting a JDM type car that was just converted to LHD. Turns out what I got was more american than I thought.

Still, I have no intentions of buying a cavalier/cobalt from chevy. I love the MS3 but I am gonna be honest about it's shortcomings and problems. I am a Mazda owner not a Mazda fanboy.

I'M OFFENDED!
Fanboy or not, I still reserve my judgment until I get my hands on one. I had an opportunity to drive the SRT-4 Neon briefly, and while it looks kickass on paper, it's a hunk of shit in real life. I'm waiting until I can get the same tests out of a Cobalt. Until then it looks like another cavalier to me, and will continue to do so.

They (SRT-4's) really understeer horribly imho!

They're fast, yeah. But they're just JUNK. I felt dirty sitting in the one I tested. The shifter was sloppy, the interior befit a 10 year old Festiva more than that car, and so on down the line.

Do you have proof the JDM models DON'T have Ford stamped on those same parts? Also, just because the part was made in a Ford plant does not mean it is any worse or any lower quality than if it were made in another plant to the same specifications.
